1953
Council Crib makes an appearence. The figures were cast using the fif=gures from Pulrose Church by kind permission of Rev. Fr. Grace. The work carried out by Bro. W. Murray.

 

1954
Columba Club was granted a liquor licence.

 

1955
Provincial Welfare Chapter meeting was held in Douglas on the 5th September.

 

1960's
The Squires
Squires Section of the KSC was inaugurated in 1926. The local Squire Council 281 was erected on the 17th June 1961 under the guidance of Youth Officers from Council 458, namely Brothers Tommy Tooms and Vincent Walmsley, with Spiritual guidance by Rev. F. Ness.

1969 - The St. Columba Chapel in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool, was dedicated on Sunday, 9th February. A party from Council 459 was present, staying at Adrian House, having travelled by boat.

 

1970's
The property known as Columba House was conveyed to the Trustees of Council 458 on the 13th November 1972.
1972 - Twenty-first Anniversary Celebration Banquet and Ball at the Palace Hotel, Douglas in the presence of His Excellency Sir Peter Hyla Gawne Stallard K.C.M.G., C.V.O., M.B.A., M.A. and Supreme Knight, Brother Martin Cairns, and Provincial Grand Knight, Brother Walter P. Downey.
1976 - Council's Silver Jubilee celebrated.

 

1980's
Inter-Parish Sports starts 1988 - 1998
Over the ten year period the sports were first held on St. Mary's School playing field and later transferred to the National Sports Centre with sponsorship from Bradford and Bingley Building Society. This was much enjoyed by all the children from the Island Parishes. The sports was organised by Brother Ged Morley with the help of other Council members namely Brother Jim Quinnand his records team, Brother Petere Lees looking after timekeeping and Boundary Harriers invaluable help.

2000's

2005 - Council Website goes live and links are added to Provincial and Supreme websites.
